The River Heights/St James Speed Skating Club, is housed in the River Heights Arena as well as the St James Civic Centre, under the jurisdiction of the Manitoba Speed Skating Association. Practice times vary per group (Monday, Tuesday and/or Thursday), and incorporate both on ice and dryland training.
Fundamental (FUNd, or beginner) skaters have the option of skating once or twice a week. The more advanced Developmental and Elite skaters (Learn to Train (L2T) and Train to Train (T2T)) skate twice a week.

Developmental and Elite Skaters, may have their sites on the Provincial Program, and may be eligible for a fuller compliment of training sessions. Ask your children’s coach about this opportunity.
Equipment is not a problem, as we provide skates for an annual rental charge. Fundamental skaters require a helmet, safety glasses, leather gloves or mitts, neck protection and shin guards. For details on the required equipment, click here.
